Possibly the cutest hampster in the world

I don't really like hamsters, they always seem sort of unfriendly, and occasionally eat their babies. But after I came across Kumanoko on Flickr, I must rescind all previous objections to this species. WANT ONE NOW.

Obama so asian!

This is why he gets the damn peace prize, amongst other things. Here the president helps his niece, Savita, as she begins to walk towards the his personal aide Reggie. Love in the Oval Office on Sept. 17, 2009!

Fucking Dope

French photographer JR has covered 2000 square meters of Kenya rooftops with the eyes and faces of women from Kiberia, the largest slum in the country.

From the release: After more than a year of planning, 2000 square meters of rooftops have been covered with photos of the eyes and faces of the women of Kibera. The material used is water resistant so that the photo itself will protect the fragile houses in the heavy rain season. The train that passes on this line through Kibera at least twice a day has also been covered with eyes from the women that live below it. With the eyes on the train, the bottom half of the their faces have be pasted on corrugated sheets on the slope that leads down from the tracks to the rooftops. The idea being that for the split second the train passes, their eyes will match their smiles and their faces will be complete.

Can I live?

Yes I can. It's been a seriously long time since I took some time to update the blogcapsule. A lot has happened this summer. Good and bad, but luckily everything is coming back intact.

Work has been slow as shit, but Asif hired me to edit an Emilie Simon video he directed called "Dreamland"

Motoo has been getting into a ton of festivals, which is great. Both Bao and I will be attending the Toronto Reel Asian Int'l Film Fest in October, and hopefully the Hawaii Int'l Film Fest in November.

Parallel Adele is still putting along, and will be screening at the SMITHSONIAN on Oct. 4th. I had to take the film down, because one of the subjects who shall remain nameless got all damn dramatic, and doesn't want to be associated anymore. BOOOO! Word from the weary kiddies, always get your subjects to sign releases, even if they are your friends, b/c folks are fickle.

Ah yes, and how could I forget, Fine Threads is screening at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival the weekend of October 10th, along with Motoo. I'm hoping to take some of the the girls who worked on the film with me.

Oh yeah, and I went to this little festival thing called Burning Man, and it was dope. Hanging out with some new folks felt real good. I guess I'd been feeling kind of lonely this summer as well, like I needed new energy in my life. NY is big, and there are a lot of cool human beings if you stick it out long enough to find them. Right now I am trying to jam on the Fulton Street gentrification documentary and get the BAC proposal together. I have a bunch of other ideas I'd like the execute, but I guess the problem is proper focus. Man I need a sandwich.
